Transport in Bangkok
Bangkok is Thailand’s capital and a very large city with over xx million inhabitants. Apart from being an industrial and services hub, it also is an important tourist destination with numerous landmarks.
Transport in teh fast growing metropolis is a huge challenge. A marginal tram system existed until 1967, but from then onwards public trabsport relied exclusively on road vehicles: taxi’s, tuk-tuks and buses, except for a few suburban rail lines which were part of the national railway system, until the traffic congestion forced the authorities to invest in modern rail systems.
