Sites and images of Oman

The Sultanate of Oman is a large country, though a major part of it consists of desert. The population is concentrated along the north-eastern coast line and the mountain range running along the coast. Along the southern coast the city of Salalah is a green oasis in the desert and the only larger center away from the north-west. The country has been developing rapidly over the past decades but has avoided the construction of the high-rises typical for other countries in the region. Muscat and other cities are spread out along the coast. The Sultanate of Oman is a beautiful country with a variety of landscapes: the deserts, the mountains, oasis, the sea. It also has an important cultural heritage with monuments, old city centers with their soukhs, old castles spread out along the coast and in the mountains, museums, and so forth. We do show some of the beauty in pictures.
