Bus builders in Lebanon

The only buses seen in Lebanon with local bodies were old normal control buses on Dodge and Fargo chassis. The bodywork is simple but stylish and clearly distinguishes itself from models from other countries. Three buses had a metal builders plate attached to the body, just in front of the entrance door. These were of two different bus body builders. Most locally built up buses were very similar and apparently there was, during the 1960's/1970's, a kind of standard model. There may have been, of course, other companies in this business. The two builders identified are Adjib Al Jamil & Sons (upper two plates) and Bodywork Samaha Brothers (lower plate). It is unlikely that these companies still build bus bodywork, if they survive at all. The page with normal control buses shows all buses with local bodywork seen in April/May 2009.
