In 1993 two replacement vehicles were delivered for the two Ikarus 216.02 lost during shipment. These two vehicles had the same DAF LT160 engine and Voith Diwa 863.58 gearbox as the 216.02 but had MVG front and ZF-rear axles and this recieved a new model designation.
