The 11-meter Ikarus 190 was built to the German VOV design and developed in 1971. It had a Raba-MAN D2156 engine. In Germany only Hamburg bought this vehicle (154 buses). KPTC ordered 100 which had Renk-Doromat automatic transmissions. One vehicle to KPTC-specifications remained in Hungary and went to BKC, Budapest, and one mobile library was built to this design. In addition, Ikarus used the body model for 23 12-meter and 12 18-meter articulated buses on Scania and Volvo chassis for Sweden. In Kuwait the similar Mercedes O305 was preferred over the Ikarus 190.
