Sint Maarten Public Buses
public bus services
Sint Maarten has no public bus company. Instead shared taxis run fixed routes on the island. There are bus stops but no schedules. However, as services are frequent one just stands at a a stop and waits for a bus to come by. Buses carry destinations on boards behind the windscreen. Both small vans and midibuses are used. By the end of 2015 all were of Japanese origin: Toyota Hiace (old and new) and Nissan Urvan/Caravan as minibuses and Toyota Coaster and Mitsubishi Rosa as the midibuses. The Toyota Hiace is the most common model. Public service vehicles have registration plates commencing with “BUS”.
