SORETRAS (http://www.soretras.tn/)

SORETRAS is responsible for passenger transport in the "gouvernorat" of Sfax, on the east coast of the country. The company was created on 17 April 1963 for passenger and freight transport. On 1 January 1988 freight transport was separated and since then SORETRAS only operates buses. The fleet on 31 December 2010 was 374 vehicles strong with an average age of 7 years and 8 months. Of those 147 were articulated buses, 61 were articulated coaches, 75 were standard buses, 65 standard coaches, 22 comfort coaches and 4 microbuses. In the second half of 2010 the fleet was renewed with the acquisition of 17 International -Alpha, 2 Irisbus -ICAR, 3 articulated Mercedes-Benz -ICAR and 3 articulated Volvo B12MA -SETCAR. More of these models were added subsequently. In a surprise move the company bought 98 ex Paris Renault Agora beginning of 2014 as lack of funds made it impossible to procure new buses. In 2016 a fleet of articulated Renault Agrora was purchased fro Paris. In 2018 a fleet of new articulated MAN -Alpha Bus vehicles was put inot service.
Sfax is a large city and there is an important urban network which consists of 30 routes with around 225 buses. In addition there are 10 interurban routes, 24 regular regional routes, 140 regional school services and 8 weekly services. The regional fleet is some 148 vehicles of which 61 are articulated.
