Abuja bus services

Abuja, Nigeria's capital city, has been, in spite of being new and large, devoid of a decent public transport system. Two government bus services, Abuja Urban Mass Transport Company Ltd, and Labour City Transport, both had in 2005 just rudimentary operations. Labour had a fleet of a few dozen Mercedes-Benz -Thomas buses of which most were out of service. Abuja Urban Mass Transport had a mixed fleet of around 75 buses, of which only 7 were operational. Most bus services were provided by old privatel owned, dirty and worn out green mid-sized and small buses.
The situation improved in 201? when AUMTC modernised its fleet. Beginning of 2014 another 100 Chinese Yutong buses were added. Another initiative end of 2013 was the acquisition of 30 buses by the government to transport civil servants. These are locally produced Innosom.
