For decades the Hungarian Ikarus factory was one of the largest bus builders worldwide, not only delivering buses to what was then the communist "east" but also to other countries. After the fall of the iron curtain it lost its main markets and finally dissappeared. Egypt had its share of Ikarus buses. The very first Ikarus bus in Egypt was a model Tr3.5, delivered in 1949. In 1952 a single model 30 came but only from 1956 onwards more Ikarus buses came. Delivery lists show the following numbers (per cell model, number delivered to Egypt and years of delivery are given):
